Justin Timberlake premiered the official music video for his latest single the song of the year, “Mirrors”. The 8-minute long visual begins with a tribute to Justin’s grandparents, Sadie and William. It takes us back in time and shows us their love story, with the death of the husband being implied through great cinematic effects, as a show of respect to Justin’s grandfather, who passed away last December. It’s said that he couldn’t make it to Justin’s wedding, and that’s also being implied in the clip, with the couple’s ring being passed to JT. Right at the moment when “Mirrors” turns into a completely different tune, Justin gets the ring and starts smoothly dancing in a house full of mirrors, doing it in all of his class. The girl of his dreams comes out for a few dance moves and the lyrics are brought to life perfectly through special effects used in the mirrors. It’s such a beautiful music video, not one of those that you see every day. It’s emotional and really personal, something Mr. Timberlake hasn’t done since “Cry Me A River”, when he hadn’t even done it to that extent. The clip is also really well shot, like an actual mini movie; visually stunning and with attention given to every single detail. Great job JT, keep slaying man.
